Skin + Me - One month in
Where it started
A couple of months ago, I started to notice that my skin was not looking its best. Smoking, coffee, and generally not thinking about my skin had taken its toll. I was noticing redness across my cheeks and nose, with a fair few of blemishes spread across my face.
While I wasn’t really concerned, as I had accepted this is part of getting older and I’d never have my 20 year old skin again. I also knew that I could do something to improve my skin.
A few years ago, I had a similar experience and I was encouraged to try Skin + Me, a UK based company that makes prescription face creams tailored to your face. The last time I tried them, after a couple of months I noticed a visible improvement in my skin.
With that in mind, I was hopeful if it would work again. So, I took the three photos of my face and submitted their online consultation. It took around 5 minutes and a few days later, their pharmacist had prescribed a daily doser for me. A cute device that only lets out as much cream as you need each day.
I also signed up for the daily wash and moisturiser which is a simple blend designed to compliment the doser. I know I could have got these cheaper on the high-street but this way, I wouldn’t have to go up the high-street and I could also budget the spending every two months.
What’s the Impact
After the first month of using Skin + Me, there is a mild improvement to my skin. It’s starting to look healthier than before and I’m aware of the difference. Though I think this is mainly due to the fact that I have spent a month doing a twice daily skin routine.
Aside from the skin improvements, there’s also been a change to my way of thinking. Committing to this routine, adding it to my daily journey, and pushing myself to come back when I dropped the ball for a couple of days has caused a change in feeling.
When I do my skin routine, knowing that I have made this choice, makes me feel good about myself. Feeling good about the choices I’m making also encourages me to make different choices elsewhere. When I drop the ball and miss a day or too, I’m also less likely to have a go at myself, and more determined to pick up the routine again.
In Summary
One month into my routine, I’m here for it. I’m seeing noticeable changes in my skin, and more surprisingly, my mindset around the choices I make.
It’s definitely been value for money and knowing that money is going into a British company and local jobs, that are using recyclable materials, it’s just hitting so many positive notes that I’m really looking forward to what the next month brings.
